Several years ago, Mahoney observed the awkward working postures of office workers trying to use a computer and work on papers at the same time. The reaching and twisting associated with this work was causing a high incidence of neck and arm pain in these workers. She searched for a product solution and could find none. She would have to devise her own solution.

The Microdesk began as a non-adjustable, clear, see-through, sloped writing surface that was placed over the rear section of the keyboard. Over the years it evolved into an adjustable platform, light weight and easy to use, with 3 models to choose from – the Regular Microdesk for a one level desk; the Step Microdesk for the keyboard tray style desk or where the monitor is positioned low on an ordinary desk; and the Compact Microdesk for use with a laptop docking station or a confined desk area.
