The Bambach Saddle Seat relieves neck pain in a Dental Assistant | ||
| Name: | D.M. | |
| Age: | 20's | |
| Occupation: | Dental Assistant | |
| Symptoms: | Cervical pain | |
D.M. had neck pain associated with her work as a dental assistant. When asked by her dentist employer to sit on a Bambach Saddle Seat (which was already in use in the surgery) she discussed the idea with her Osteopath, who said that it was a good idea.
Introduction to the Saddle Seat
D.M. was instructed how to adjust the tilt and height of the seat and how to assume the best posture for work.
Result
After she became used to the new position, D.M. found the Saddle Seat beneficial. Her neck did not hurt even after a whole day's work when using the Bambach Saddle Seat.
"I like the way your legs are with your feet on the floor; it is a comfortable way to sit, but you have to get used to it."
Before and after images
BEFORE: Using a conventional dental stool
On a conventional, flat dental stool, D.M.'s pelvis rolls back which collapses her spine. Her head and neck are strained to see her work. Her right shoulder is raised and statically held to work suction.
AFTER: Using the Bambach Saddle Seat
On a Bambach Saddle Seat, D.M. is in a relaxed and natural posture. Her spinal curves are restored. Her pelvis is rotated to a natural upright position allowing her spine, head, neck and shoulders to work without postural stress.
