Back and Neck Pain Back and neck pain are the most common work-realated musculoskeletal disorders, and the most costly. Over 70% of the population will suffer from back or neck disorders at least once in their lifetime. |

Conventional seating contributes to the problem. When you sit in a conventional chair your spine assumes an unnatural position, resulting in a flattening of the lumbar curve. Leaning forward to work displaces this curve even further, increasing spinal pressures. This can cause serious and painful damage. |

Believe it or not, the ideal sitting posture is on horseback. The hip joints are in their resting position with a bend of 45 degrees. The spine assumes its natural alignment and spinal disc pressures are reduced. Many horse riders report they suffer from severe back pain on the ground, yet find relief when mounted in the saddle. The Bambach Saddle Seat reproduces this phenomenon, enabling supreme balance and mobility in an upright position. top of page |

| Dentists and Surgeons Musculoskeletal disorders are common among dentists and surgeons. This work demands high precision and is often performed with the arms abducted (away from the body) and unsupported and the neck flexed forward and rotated for long periods of time. This creates high static loads (muscle tension) in the neck, upper back, and shoulders. In addition, dentists and surgeons using traditional seating have a tendency to bend forward from the waist rather than from the hips. The result is stress on the spinal discs and the surrounding soft tissues of the spine. |

| Before: Dentist on a conventional dental stool. Note the backward rotation of the pelvis and rounding of her back and neck. This dentist suffered from low back pain at work. After: Improved spinal posture on the Bambach Saddle Seat. Note upright pelvis and more functional position of the arms and hands. Back pain and fatigue were markedly reduced. top of page |

Musicians Musculoskeletal disorders are common among drummers, pianists, string players, and others. Playing a musical instrument demands high precision with the hands. In conventional seating, the body's center of gravity is behind the pelvis, which forces the spine to round and the arms to reach excessively forward to play the instrument. This strains the neck, back, and shoulders. The Bambach Saddle Seat moves the body's center of gravity forward, thus allowing closer access to the instrument, reducing postural strain and providing greater freedom of movement to the arms and legs. |

| Before: This muscician suffered severe neck and back pain while playing his keyboard. In order to reach the keys, he had to round his neck and back and hunch his shoulders forward. After: In the Bambach Saddle Seat he no longer has pain. His spine is in normal alignment and his shoulders are relaxed. His arms and hands can easily reach the keyboard. Note that he also raised the height of his keyboard. top of page |
